58th Annual Show
The 58th Annual Columbia Gem & Mineral Show will be held at the Jamil Shrine Temple:
Friday November 20th (10 am to 6 pm)
Saturday November 21st (10 am to 6 pm)
Sunday November 22nd (12 noon to 5 pm)

Geodes
CGMS will have geodes for sale at the show entrance. You select and we'll cut them for you. Geodes may contain quartz, amethyst, smoky quartz, or calcite. No one knows what may be hidden inside!
Dealers
The Show will feature many vendors selling an enormous variety of mineral specimens, rough and cut gemstones, beads, fossils, unique jewelry and lapidary supplies. Amber, jade, turquoise and precious gemstones are among the items for sale. Some jewelers can complete special orders.

Salted Mine & Grab Bags
A salted mine for children to "dig" for crystals, fossils, rocks and mineral treasures will be provided.
Grab bags will be available for $2, $5 and $10, each containing a variety of minerals and fossils collected by club members. You may find mineral specimens, polished minerals, small shark’s teeth and other fossils in your bag.
Display Cases and Demonstrations
CGMS will feature demonstrations of gemstone faceting, jewelry making and flint knapping. There will be educational display cases to showcase member's collections, the SC State Gemstone (amethyst) and the SC State Stone (blue granite).

1st Grand Prize: Fluorite Plate (click photo to enlarge)
A large plate of UV-Reactive Purple Fluorite, Dolomite, Calcite, and Quartz.
Country of Origin: China.
2nd Grand Prize: Emerald Matrix (click photo to enlarge)
A 3-pound specimen of emeralds in matrix. This specimen contains more than 10 emerald crystals, including one that is about thumb size.
Country of Origin: Brazil. Donated by Sue Shrader.
